Kirkland’s natural beauty, strong neighborhoods, and active community are what make it one of the most desirable places to live in the region. But to maintain that quality of life, we must make smart decisions that honor our values while adapting to change.
GINA’S PRIORITIES and VISION
for KIRKLAND
The City of Kirkland is renowned for its incredible beauty and excellent quality of life for all its residents. The question for anyone running for the City Council is: How do we keep that going? We are at a point in our evolution where we must make smart choices to continue to grow our city in a responsible way that creates and sustains a desirable community for all who want to live here.
How we move forward needs to be pragmatic and thoughtful. It also requires someone with experience collaborating with the City Council, as well as city staff and the community. As a Planning Commissioner, I have a proven track record of understanding how our city government functions, forging productive relationships with council members and staff and listening to public input to make reasoned and informed decisions for Kirkland citizens.
That's my charge and my promise to you as a voter. I will work every day to ensure we retain our vibrancy, keep our character and govern with transparency, accountability and an understanding that your voice matters and every tax dollar comes from you and needs to be used wisely.
I envision responsible urban planning, continued economic growth, strong stewardship of our natural environment, and leveraging our regional position to benefit our residents.
In a nutshell: smart growth for a bright future and I would love to earn your support.

RESPONSIBLE URBAN PLANNING
As we continue to attract people to our wonderful city, we must preserve what makes Kirkland special while evolving in a way that is responsible, sustainable and desirable for both existing and future residents.
• Focus growth where it makes sense, consistent with our Comprehensive Plan, by directing growth in our urban centers.
• Give careful consideration of planned growth’s impacts on transit, infrastructure, natural resources, and services.
• Partner with developers on appropriate incentives to deliver more housing of various types across the economic spectrum so more people can call Kirkland home.
• Improve transit options and frequency to better serve more community members as our population continues to grow.
• Preserve parks and open spaces to continue to showcase what makes Kirkland special and maintain a robust natural environment for people to enjoy.
-
ECONOMIC VITALITY
Attract and retain a variety of businesses and services that Kirkland residents want and need to enrich their quality of life and foster a thriving economy in the various neighborhoods.
• Revitalize the 85th corridor transforming it into a vibrant, welcoming, and community-oriented destination featuring a healthy variety of commercial, retail and residential development.
• Engage with community members and neighborhood associations to discuss opportunities and concerns for existing or future development projects with a keen eye toward balancing community benefit with economic growth.
• Pursue grants or other funding strategies while minimizing regulations or tax policies that unduly burden the ability for business to thrive in our community.
-
COMMUNITY SERVICES & SAFETY
Maintain the safety of our neighborhoods while providing services to those in need in a way that doesn't adversely impact existing residents.
• Fund our first responders and ensure adequate training to meet the needs of our growing community.
• Support community members dealing with mental health issues, substance use disorders, escaping domestic violence and other vulnerabilities.
• Partner with other cities, the county, and the state to adopt best practices to achieve desired results.
• Recognize the humanity in and unique needs of Kirkland citizens of all ages, abilities, orientations, and backgrounds to provide support as needed in a responsible and productive way.
-
GOVERNMENT TRANSPARENCY AND ACCOUNTABILITY
I recognize that our decisions impact you and strive to balance mine through the lenses of community impact and benefit while ensuring every tax dollar is spent wisely with transparency and accountability.
• Arrive at thoughtful decisions by ensuring robust public engagement and responding to questions and concerns from the community.
• Obtain the necessary data to help analyze options and inform decisions, ensuring we measure results and pivot as needed to reach the desired goals.
• Promote transparency and responsibility, while empowering our communities to participate in the process, feel heard and able to trust in the outcome.
